The Minimum Wage. By Andy Bate.



 

The minimum wage is here,
You cannot get paid below.
They staggered it by age,
The teens the lowest of the low.

 

Get paid the minimum rate,
And that’s exactly what you get.
No, not a penny more,
Employers show no regret.

 

If we all do the same job,
We should all get the same rate of pay.
No difference in your ages,
For an equally laboured day.

 

Shouts of joy at its arrival,
This minimum guarantee to you.
But it’s only a licence for just that,
An employers dream come true.

 

If the minimum wage is to be fair,
Then end the conflict, end the debate.
Make no disparity by age,
Pay everyone of every age the same rate.
