A Dog Barks As The Evening Struggles
With the weekend winding down
Slowly with a hint of folky Neil
Young & the great old blues of
Robert, the Devil, Johnson the
Dog downstairs starts to bark &
My mind begs for his owner to
Just do something as the weekend
Turned into one like them olden
Days & right now I crave my
Pit whilst I can only dream of
Sleep!
One Piece At A Time
This morning
Something odd came to my mind,
Something like an edit job on life
I thought as I re-arranged my room
Just so I could sit here tonight &
Write those immortal words I thought
Id lost at the last resort
I sit here & stare from my window
But, alas, tonight I do not stare
Out to sea just at the back of some
Posh mews house with the sea out
There somewhere, not too far away,
But, right now, the only water I can
See is the blessed rain whichll no
Doubt leave our August evening beach
As empty as a cold, cold night in
January & that is never a bad thing!
Always Be Honest
Sometimes, when I read a poem Ive just written, I
Look back at it and ask myself how did I get to
That ending & I think & what I usually come to realise
Is damn it, thats the way it happened & that is what
The people need to know even if it doesnt cast me
In that good a light because this writing is all about
The honesty in our lives & relaying it to the page.
Life Is Fine So Leave Me Please
As I drop off the face of this Brighton poetry
Life I find I now have time to just sit & write
& just sit here & read & it feels so damn
Great I ask why would I ever want to go
Out there again?
Out there where nothing excites & where
Im often more interested in getting drunk
Than hearing some poetry & so I say to you
life is fine so leave me please as right now
This beautiful isolation has bought a
Glorious torrent of words.
