The surest
sign
of humanitys
inhumanity
is the way cheap
whisky burns
and soothes at the
same time,
making the world
seem a little more
saner than missing
another birthday
to meet a deadline
or answering
emails from those
who have no idea
people still mourn
the library of
Alexandria.

The Saddest
Gamble
Sitting here
listening to Bach
and thinking about
Bukowski
sipping his
wine,
while I drink
decaffeinated
coffee
because high blood
pressure
is the only lion
stalking me.
My fear of grey
hair and sleepless
nights the saddest
gamble
like someone
betting
their grocery
money on a horse
that breaks its
leg
the furthest
one can be from a
photo finish.

A Hard
Sell
All the
victories seem to belong
to everyone
else,
while defeats fill
my empty pockets,
and the smiling
masses
believe
theyve won in capitalism
or want try
communism again,
depending on who
you ask.
I have no answers
except that you
should buy
my next
book.
