Ash Wednesday
by Terry Brinkman

This year on Ash Wednesday, Our Lady of Lourdes, Magna has two English masses at Six P.M. and Eight A.M. respectfully. This has been a weird year, unusually warm and no snow until this week we have only gotten one tenth of an inch. According to the Weather Gal on T.V. Channel 2 our normal would have been 34 Inches. We have still only gotten a few inches (but in the mountains 2 miles from me they got 34 inches last night).

We got up at my usually early time so we decided to go at Eight A.M.

Mass was great. Mary, who is someone I know was doing the readings and passing out Holy Communion and Ashes. After Mass we stopped at Walmart for a few things on the list then went home.

Now for the point of the story.. On the way to Magna we saw two Hawks dancing in the sky; I don’t care what Ground Hog Punxsutawney Phil says, this is a sure sign, even though we have not seen a real winter yet spring is surely on its way.
