Long Gone Daddy

I misses Johnny’s hugs

And I misses Sara’s kisses

And those are not the only things

This long gone daddy misses

I misses them in sleepfulness

I misses them in waking

I misses all the botherations

That we was undertaking

I misses all their loudnesses

Their smilings and complaints

I misses all the things they are

And hates the things I ain’t

I sits down to my Sunday meal

Withouts a shred of joy

Happiness wears leaden weights

Without my girl and boy

I misses them upon the seats

In living rooms and cars

I misses them in pouring rains

And under dimmest stars

I misses Johnny’s hugs

And I misses Sara’s kisses

And those are not the only things

This long gone daddy misses

Mourning My Lost Lenore

With death I’m cucked, my heart amuck

The knife in my heart bore

On earth I’m stuck, I cannot shuck

This mourning lost Lenore

My soul is spent, the devil went

And dug into to my core

From all she meant I am hellbent

Mourning my lost Lenore

Through the smoke the running joke -

There’s always worse in store

Drunk and broke at the end of the loke

Mourning my lost Lenore

I’m still here, I drink my beer

Upon this ragged shore

The evening near, the ending clear

Mourning my dear Lenore

Some Men

Some men want her in fishnet hose

And nails red as a red red rose

Hair dyed black as my heart at night

Mascara running down in fright

Some men want a cactus flower

Who blooms for them in the midnight hour

Dressed to go and do the laundry

Wanting one man and one man only

Some men want sweet birds of youth

Or pantsuit women screaming “Truth”

Some men want to call her mommy

Soothing fragile mind and tummy

Some men want a virgin whore

Who blushes when she asks for more

Some men want a lipstick’d kiss

Some men want much more than this

Some men want clean eyes and lips

Skinny thighs or plusher hips

For some men anyone will do

And me? Hell, I just want you

Some Women

Some women want to give me love

Some women want to give me money

Some women want to call me bastard

Some women want to call me honey

Some women want to be my mother

Some women want to be my sister

Some want me to be their secret

Some want me to be their mister

Some women want to hear their name

Calling to them from the street

Some women want to lay their blame

At the doorstep of my feet

Some women want me to do it

Other women won’t allow it

Some women see right through it

Others see me as a wallet

Some women want me fast and loose

Some women want me long and tall

Some women want me all locked up

But most women don’t want me at all

There Was A Man Drowning In A Cup Of Tea

There was a man drowning in a cup of tea.

He waved his arms and said, “Look at me!”

He signed autographs between gasps of air.

The press took his picture until he wasn’t there.

He tried to wave from the bottom of the cup.

He did it but then could not come up.

There was a man drowning in a cup of tea.

Too busy waving to try and get free.

a line, (a blue one)
