Living with Insomnia

meditate
floors creak
mistakes to ponder
from last week
making plans
ruminate
could go to sleep
it's not too late
oh, good lord
I have to pee!
did I smell smoke?
anxiety
I can't placate it
dull its claws
or dominate it
even pause
the popcorn thoughts
that pop all night
alarm goes off
alright! alright!
from time to time
it’s just this way
and though it bites
I’ll be okay
